Writing Pieces

I keep buying weird things on Instagram.

Clothing.

This morning a red sweater with a croissant embroidered on it.

In small.  Even though I don’t normally wear small.

They are never expensive.  The things I buy.

Because I’m never sure I will ever get them.

I put down my address.  And my PO number.

Hedging my bets on where they might end up.

I’m never sure.

I rarely buy anything from a local store anymore.

I live in a small town, so there aren’t a lot of choices.

And, if I’m looking for clothing, stores don’t have enough storage space to hold my size.  A larger size.  They sell more of the smaller pieces.  Smaller people can wear anything.

So, instead, I buy presents at retail.  From houseware stores.  No sizes.  Satisfies my “supporting the local economy” thing.

But for clothing, I keep going back to Instagram.

Where they have a lot of new designers and companies.

Usually fun or funny things that make me smile.

Like the croissant.

Anymore I just want to have a good time when I get dressed.  Sport a little wink.

A skip in my step.

Dressing appropriately seems like a thing of the past.

When I was working.  A lot of black pants and blazers.

But I don’t need to do that anymore.

So I peruse Instagram.

A fairy costume is just fine.

I’m with you about adding a “little wink” to the daily routine of dressing oneself! Fun is the operative word for me in this elder journey of doing anything these days. Anything that puts a smile on my face and on the faces of others! Xo A
